Golden Gate Masonic Temple

The Golden Gate Masonic Temple is located in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. It serves as the home for Golden Gate Lodge #245, which is a chartered lodge of The Grand Lodge of Ohio, Free and Accepted Masons. The history of the Golden Gate Lodge is intertwined with that of Chagrin Falls. The pioneers who settled in this area faced challenges like pushing through forests armed with rifles and axes to establish the community. They wisely chose a site near natural water power, leading to the growth of the village.

Noah Graves, a key figure, purchased land and laid out the town in 1834. The first houses were built that year, and the village was incorporated in 1844. During this period, Masons rode considerable distances to meet with friends gathered around a Masonic Altar in neighboring hamlets and later brought the light of Masonry to their community. On December 3, 1853, the dispensation for Golden Gate Lodge #245 was granted by M. W. Brother Lucius V. Bierce, Grand Master of Masons of Ohio.
