Angels Landing
Angels Landing is one of the most iconic and exhilarating hikes in Zion National Park, located in southwestern Utah. Rising nearly 1,500 feet above the canyon floor, Angels Landing offers breathtaking panoramic views of Zion Canyon and the surrounding red rock landscape. This challenging trail is known for its steep switchbacks, sheer drop-offs, and exposed sections, making it a thrilling adventure for experienced hikers and adrenaline seekers.
The hike to Angels Landing begins at the Grotto Trailhead and follows the West Rim Trail for approximately 2.5 miles, passing through scenic landscapes and ascending steadily in elevation. The trail then reaches the base of Angels Landing, where hikers encounter the infamous Walter's Wiggles—a series of 21 steep switchbacks carved into the rock. Beyond Walter's Wiggles, the trail becomes even more exhilarating as it traverses a narrow ridge with sheer drop-offs on either side, culminating in a series of chains anchored into the rock to assist hikers in navigating the exposed sections.
The reward for completing the challenging hike is reaching the summit of Angels Landing, where hikers are treated to awe-inspiring views of Zion Canyon, the Virgin River, and the surrounding rock formations. The panoramic vistas from the summit are truly breathtaking and offer a unique perspective of the park's stunning landscape. While Angels Landing is open year-round, hikers should be prepared for extreme temperatures, especially during the summer months when temperatures can soar, and the trail can be crowded. Additionally, the trail may be closed during inclement weather or hazardous conditions. Overall, hiking Angels Landing is an unforgettable experience that showcases the natural beauty and grandeur of Zion National Park.

It was a great hiking experience. Its around 2.5 miles (one way) and took around 3 hours to go all the way. If you are experienced hiker it will take less time than that. Last 1/2 mile is fairly steep and you have to hold the chain on the way. The view of zion canyon from there is absolutely majestic !!
